By the mid 19th century the Ottoman Sultans were obsessed with all things Western and decided to move out of Topkapı Palace and into Dolmabahçe Palace on the southern shore of the Bosphorus. The Palace consist of one large main building divided into two seperate wings along with a couple of smaller pavilions and extensive gardens.
